Bet Types
Understanding Horse Racing Bet Types
Horse racing offers more options than standard sports betting. Get to know each bet type so you can plan your strategy better at cita88.
Win — Straight Win
The most basic bet — you pick the horse that will lead the race. Odds for a straight win bet are generally higher.
Place — Second or Third
Your horse does not need to win — it just needs to finish in a qualifying position depending on the race size.
Each-Way
A combination of Win and Place in a single bet — you win if the horse wins the race or finishes in a specified position.
Exacta — Two-Horse Sequence
Predict the first and second horse in the correct order. Odds are higher due to the difficulty involved.
Trifecta — Three-Horse Sequence
Predict the top three horses in the exact order. This bet offers larger returns.
Quinella — Any Order for Two Horses
Pick two horses to finish in first and second place in any order — easier than an Exacta.
Player Guide
How to Read a Horse's Form Before Betting
One of the most important things in horse racing is understanding a horse's performance record, or "form". Form covers past race results, weight carried, distance run and track conditions. At cita88, this information is available directly on the betting page so you can assess it before placing your bet.
Beyond form, other factors such as the jockey, trainer and weather conditions during the race also affect the outcome. Players who take the time to check these details tend to make more informed choices.
- Check the recent race record for at least the last five races
- Pay attention to race distance — certain horses perform better over short or long distances
- Note the track conditions: wet or dry turf can have a significant impact on performance
- Manage your betting budget — do not put everything on a single race
